Both options can produce vibrant, durable DTF prints. The difference is what happens after the first press. Hot-peel film is designed to release while the transfer is still hot or warm. Cold-peel film needs to cool before you remove the carrier sheet. That one difference affects your press speed, final finish, risk of mistakes, and how smoothly your shop handles volume.

Hot Peel vs Cold Peel: The Fast Answer

Depending on the transfer instructions, a finishing press with parchment, kraft paper, or another recommended cover sheet can help create a smoother, more matte, or more integrated-looking result. Follow the exact recommendation for your film rather than using a finish-press habit from a different product.

Garment choice also changes the outcome. Cotton, polyester, blends, performance fabrics, fleece, and textured garments all absorb heat differently. Before a large run, press one sample on the exact garment you plan to sell. Wash it if the job is high stakes. A five-minute test can prevent a costly reprint.

When Hot Peel Is the Better Fit
