Heat Press Settings Guide: Perfect Temps, Pressure & Time for DTF
Correct heat settings are everything. Learn the ideal temperature, pressure, and press time to get flawless DTF transfers—soft feel, no peeling, no issues.
Standard Settings (Most Garments)
• Temperature: 305–315°F (145–155°C)
• Press Time: 5-7 seconds
• Pressure: Medium–Firm
• Peel Type: Hot Peel
For Heavy Cotton or Hoodies
• Temperature: 325°F (150°C)
• Press Time: 7-9 seconds
• Pressure: Firm
• Peel: Hot
For Polyester or Heat-Sensitive Fabrics
• Temperature: 285–300°F (130–140°C)
• Press Time: 5 seconds
• Pressure: Light–Medium
• Peel: Hot
After-Press Tip: Second Press
For maximum durability, perform a second press:
• 5 seconds at the same temperature
• Use parchment paper or a teflon sheet
This step seals the print into the fibers and gives a smoother finish.
Troubleshooting: Common Issues & Quick Fixes
Problem: Edges peeling after first wash
Solution: Increase pressure slightly and add a 5–8 second second press.
Problem: Colors look dull or faded
Solution: Make sure your heat press reaches the actual temperature—many presses run 10–20 degrees cooler than the display.
Problem: Transfer not bonding in the center
Solution: Your press may have uneven pressure. Add a foam pad or adjust the platen.
Problem: Film sticking even after cooling
Solution: Reduce temperature by 5–10°F and retest.
Best Fabrics for DTF
DTF works on almost any fabric, but these give the best results:
• 100% Cotton
• Cotton/Poly Blends
• Polyester
